Subject: Gather signatures for Michigan Collective Bargaining Amendment

There will be a major petition signature blitz for the Collective Bargaining Constitutional Amendment taking place on Saturday, May 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at various locations throughout the state. Extreme politicians in Lansing have launched an all-out assault on working people and retirees and the only way to fight back is with a constitutional amendment that protects collective bargaining rights. But first we need to collect thousands of signatures to get the measure on the ballot.

The blitz is organized by Protect Our Jobs, which aims to collect 322,609 valid petition signatures to get this initiative on the November 2012 election ballot.

A diverse group of union members and allies are joining together on this day to knock on doors, hold drive-thru events and collect petition signatures in an effort to create more awareness, energy and excitement around this important initiative to help preserve collective bargaining rights for Michigan's working families.

Thanks to strong support, we have already made impressive progress. The challenge is far from over, but when we all come together, we win!
