WHO IS LOCAL 4911?
UAW Local 4911 represents a diverse group of more than 2,400 employees within Sparrow Health System. We are an Amalgamated Local Union combining individual work jurisdictions called the: Service Unit, Technical Unit, and Skilled Trades Unit. They work throughout the Tri-County area. Local 4911 is a democratically run organization owned and operated by its members. The members elect its officers and stewards.
The membership employs (2) full-time officers – President and Financial Secretary/Treasurer and (1) part-time secretary/bookkeeper.
WHEN ARE MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS?
Local 4911 members are encouraged to attend monthly membership meetings. They are held at the 2722 E. Michigan office on the 4th Wednesday each month at 5:00 p.m. When members attend meetings, they learn about what is happening in the union and workplace. They have an opportunity to voice their opinions, ask questions, take part in union decision making and become informed on union related issues.
WHAT ARE STANDING COMMITTEES?
In addition to the Executive Board, our local currently has eleven (11) Standing Committees that support and work toward our goal of being a strong union in the workplace and community: Citizenship and Legislative (CAP), Civil and Human Rights, Community Service, Constitution and Bylaws, Education, Election, Health and Safety, Recreation, Union Label, Veterans, and Women’s Committee.
Committee members are appointed, subject to membership approval and meet at various times. Contact the union office if you are interested in becoming a committee member.
